ECM Titanium Software

ECM Titanium Software FAQs

What is ECM Titanium used for?

ECM Titanium is Alientech’s software for reading and editing the calibration files held inside a vehicle’s ECU and TCU. Once you have pulled a file from the control unit with a tool like the KESS3, ECM Titanium lets you open that file and change the maps that control fueling, boost pressure, torque limits and rev limiters. It uses Drivers, which are map packs from the Alientech database, to show you where each setting sits inside the raw file. You can work in a table view, a 2D graph or a 3D graph depending on how you prefer to edit. Beyond performance work, it also handles jobs such as file repair and ECU cloning.

How much is ECM Titanium?

The price depends on which version you choose and how long a subscription you take. ECM Titanium comes in a Full version with unlimited driver downloads, a ECM Titanium Promo version that carries the same functions but is tied to a KESS3 Master tool, and a ECM Titanium Credit version that works on a pay as you go basis, where you buy credits and spend them per driver download. Subscription length and credit bundles change the figure too, and pricing can differ by region. For an up to date quote on the version that suits your work, call the team on +44 (0)1789 774444.

What is the best ECU tuning software?

There is no single answer that fits every tuner, because the right software depends on the vehicles you work on, your budget and how much control you want over the file. What you should look for is a clear interface, an editing view you can actually read, a large and well maintained Driver or map database and proper checksum correction so your files write back safely.

ECM Titanium covers all of that, with table, 2D and 3D editing, a database of more than 100,000 Drivers built by Alientech technicians and checksum support so each change is corrected before the file goes back to the car. It opens original files whatever tool you read them with, so you are free to mix and match your kit by project.

Pair it with the KESS3 tuning tool and Alientech training courses and you have a setup that works for everything from a first Stage 1 remap to involved custom projects.

Can I reprogram my ECU myself?

Yes, you can reprogram an ECU yourself, as long as you have the right tools and you understand what you are changing. The usual route is to:

  • Read the original tuning file from the ECU with a tuning tool such as the KESS3
  • Edit the maps in software like ECM Titanium
  • Write the changed file back to the car

The part that catches people out is the editing. Changing the wrong value, or pushing fuel and boost too far, can damage the engine, so it’s important that you have a good knowledge and understanding of the tuning process as well as using genuine tuning tools and software.

If you would rather not write the tuning file yourself, you do not have to. You can take Alientech training to build the skill, or send your reading to an expert tuning file writing service and have a finished map sent back to you. Many tuners use a mix of the two depending on the job.
